"Glaukenschtuken: Guilt Stricken for having felt Schadenfreude".

In order to feel Schadenfreude, joy in the suffering of others, there must be some sense that the subject of the suffering somehow deserves it either in a sense of Revenge or having reduced the subject to an Object; a Subhuman thing. Later, there may be a sense of being stricken with Guilt.

There is another form, a sense that the suffering is not real or is for Comic relief. Hardly would a person feel guilt stricken for laughing at the Three Stooges. I don't know the word for Pity, feeling sorry for, or having Mercy would apply either. Maybe if the person identified with the character.
